ABSTRACT:An effective method to detect, localize, identify, and classify power quality disturbance is proposed. Firstly, the signal containing noise is de-noised by wavelet transform to obtain a signal with higher signal-to-noise ratio. Then the de-noised signal is differentiated to form a difference signal and the duration and position of the disturbance can be determined. Using phase-shifting of the de-noised single phase signal by -60° to achieve a virtual symmetrical three phase voltage system and using the three phase voltages to substitute the three phase currents, the instantaneous active power can be calculated by means of instantaneous reactive power theory, and then the amplitude of instantaneous voltage can be calculated, therefore, the type of the disturbance can be identified by the duration and amplitude of the disturbance.
