VLAN Tagging allows the interface to 'tag' each frame with a unique tag that identifies the VLAN to which the frame is destined. 802.1Q allows an interface to participate in Multiple VLANs, as long as the VLANs are 802.1Q-compliant. Because there is not yet a large demand for NICs to participate in multiple VLANs, HP's network cards do not support 802.1Q or trunking.
